LV Women's Summit
Energizes Participants
The Lehigh Valley Women's Summit, held on June 5, brought together women of all ages and professions. The common link was the desire to celebrate achievements, learn from one another and make and renew friendships. The event, put on by the Women's Business Council of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, and the Women's Leadership Initiative of United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, was an outstanding day.
I had the pleasure of participating on the panel, Personal Branding for Executive Presence. The moderator was Sally Ullman, owner of Sally Ullman Photography. Other panelists included Nancy Sayre, business director of Sayre Design, and Anne-Mette Halvorson, adjunct faculty, Lehigh University. Our goal was to share insights from our varying perspectives on how women can develop their personal brand. Anne-Mette talked about how a woman can stay true to her brand throughout the many transitions in life — as a professional, mother, daughter, sister, volunteer and friend. Nancy recalled her personal journey to discover her brand and how Sayre Design helps individuals and businesses build their brand through a powerful graphic image.
My message — the ability to write well can make or break your personal brand. Why? Writing is a thought process and the ability to write well is a good indication of a clear thinker. I discussed the six steps of the writing process and how this approach can make a person a better writer. In this age of tweets, texting and Facebook, writing remains a critical skill.
